An official petition has been launched to replace Bad Bunny as the performer of the Super Bowl 60 Halftime Show.

Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican rapper and singer, was named the NFL’s Super Bowl 60 Halftime Show performer at the end of September. The NFL announced the choice at halftime of the Cowboys vs. Giants game. Bad Bunny, one of the most popular artists in the world, is constantly atop the streaming charts, along with Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” Bad Bunny said in a statement. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

The NFL made the choice in collaboration with Roc Nation and Apple Music. Roc Nation’s Jay Z said that what Bad Bunny has “done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”

Some NFL fans, especially many on the right, have spoken out against the pick, now filing an official petition.

The petition has been launched, calling on the NFL to replace Bad Bunny with country music legend George Strait.

The petition was launched on change.org.

“The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most watched music performances worldwide, celebrating not just the sport but the cultural tapestry of America. In recent years, this performance has leaned increasingly towards modern pop and international artists. While this approach certainly broadens the audience, it’s pivotal to remember the roots that have made American music what it is today,” the petition states.

“George Strait, known as the ‘King of Country,’ embodies the heart and soul of American music. With over 60 No. 1 hits and more than 40 years in the music industry, George Strait is not only a legend in the country music genre but a staple in American musical history. His ability to transcend generations with his timeless songs resonates with a diverse demographic, welcoming both long-time fans and newcomers.

“The 2026 Super Bowl offers a unique opportunity to pay tribute to American music’s rich heritage by featuring George Strait in its halftime show. His performances are known for their authenticity and raw emotion, qualities that are crucial as we aim to unite fans from coast to coast.

“The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt. Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football’s biggest stage. Again, George Strait embodies unity, tradition, and the timeless American music that truly deserves the 2026 Super Bowl spotlight.

“Join us in urging the NFL and related decision-makers to honor American music heritage by selecting George Strait for the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show. Sign this petition to make your voice heard and support a halftime performance that celebrates the legacy of American country music.”

The NFL, meanwhile, is standing by its decision.
