Green Bay Packers quarterbacks, rookies, and injured players all reported to training camp on Friday. While veterans are not expected to show up until later next week, these players will begin preparations for the 2025 NFL season early. And while this marked the end of a long wait for fans who have been craving football for months, it also brought with it some unfortunate news.

Among those that showed up on Friday were three injured starters from the 2024 roster. Christian Watson is still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in Week 18 last season and was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Quay Walker, who was dealing with an undisclosed injury during OTAs, joined him.

Elgton Jenkins, who is moving from left guard to center, was placed on the non-football injury list. The nature of his ailment is not yet known.

Not all news, though, that came out of Green Bay on Friday was bad.

According to multiple reports, the Packers took advantage of their rookies being present early by finally signing their second round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, offensive lineman Anthony Belton, to his rookie contract.

All over the NFL, second round picks have been slow to sign with their teams as they try to get more guaranteed money in their contracts. And Belton’s patience paid off for him as he got more money guaranteed (but not more money overall) than Green Bay has given any of their past second round picks:

As one can see in the post above, about 73% of Belton’s contract is guaranteed. Last year, just under 62% of the 54th overall pick’s salary was guaranteed.

Now that Belton has signed, the Packers have officially inked their entire 2025 NFL Draft class.

Many fans and analysts were surprised that Green Bay selected Belton in the second round, especially considering they used their first round pick on Jordan Morgan last year and signed Anthony Banks in free agency.

That being said, there are two jobs up for grabs on the offensive line. Rasheed Walker has been the starting left tackle for the last two years, but has not been guaranteed the job again. Additionally, right guard, which was manned by Sean Rhyan last year, is up for grabs. Morgan and Rhyan competed for the starting role their last year, but a shoulder injury limited Morgan to just six games.

Belton will almost surely get his chance to compete for either job, but, as always, the Packers will put their best five linemen out on the field as their starters.
