Dallas Cowboys General Manager Officially Speaks Out About Micah Parsons’ $56 Million “Contract” That Shocks Fans.momo.

If there’s one defender in the National Football League that deserves a well-endowed contract, it’s Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons.

In fact, ESPN’s Adam Schefter even predicted last month on the Unsportsmanlike podcast that he expected Parsons to sign a deal that mirrored what other prime defenders such as Maxx Crosby, T.J. Watt, and Myles Garrett were making, which is around the $40 million range.

And Spotrac’s most up-to-date projection of the Penn State alum mirrors Schefter’s projection, a four-year, $145 million deal that would average out to $36.3 million, keeping the star in Arlington at least until 2029.

But there’s also a chance that the Cowboys’ offseason could spell the same old song and dance for the team, thanks to owner and general manager Jerry Jones, who, as Cowboys fans should, never really gets into a hurry with these kinds of deals.

However, Max Dible of Athlon Sports believes that Jones taking his time with Parsons could end up hurting Jones and the Cowboys financially after all.

According to Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report, some deja vu is predicted for Dallas, with Jones making the same mistake with his star edge rusher that he did last year with quarterback Dak Prescott, and Davenport predicts that the legendary owner will end up costing his team by eventually settling on a five-year, $201.5 million deal, which would cost them an annual amount of $56 million, well above the other projections.

Davenport even went as far as to predict Parsons as becoming the first $200 million defender in the NFL’s history.

“Make no mistake, Parsons is going to get paid,” Davenport wrote, “And when he does, he will probably become the first $200 million defender the NFL has ever seen.”
