In a shocking political scandal, Maryland Senator Dalya Attar is facing serious federal charges for secretly filming and blackmailing two of her critics. According to a newly unsealed indictment, Attar, her brother, and a Baltimore police officer placed hidden cameras in the apartments of her victims, including a former campaign adviser who worked for her, and used the videos to intimidate them into silence.

Federal prosecutors said Attar feared public backlash from former supporters of her political opponents and planned to use private information to control them. The victims were targeted not only as individuals but also as families, with threats to expose the messages to everyone from religious communities to family members if they spoke out against Attar.

According to investigative documents, the WhatsApp messages were sent frequently and deleted to avoid detection. The investigation also revealed face-to-face meetings at the mall where Attar and his co-defendants threatened to release the sensitive video. If convicted, Attar and his co-defendants could face decades in prison, marking one of Maryland’s most serious political scandals in recent years.
