The San Francisco 49ers will soon begin training camp after a month-long break. Rookies reported on Tuesday, July 15, while veterans report on Tuesday, July 22, at SAP Performance Facility in Santa Clara, California. According to Over The Cap, veterans who do not report to camp or skip practice without an excused absence will be fined $50,000 per day.

All eyes were on whether the 49ers’ $15.39 million offensive weapon would show up with report day looming.

Jauan Jennings is seeking a new contract after coming off a breakout 2024 campaign and finishing as the team’s second-leading receiver. He enters the final year of his two-year, $15.39 million contract extension, and he is set to earn a $1.17 million base salary and a $4.258 million cap hit in 2025. There were reports that Jennings wants a trade if a contract extension is not agreed upon.

During Tuesday’s press conference, John Lynch provided an update on Jauan Jennings amid report day and addressed the trade rumors, via David Bonilla of 49ers Webzone. The general manager shared that the receiver reported for training camp on Monday and passed his physical after nursing a minor calf injury. Lynch shut down rumors of Jennings demanding a trade.

“I won’t speak for Jauan, but had a good visit with him,” Lynch said, via Bonilla. “Anticipate him being out there (at practice). You guys know our feelings on J.J. He embodies what we think a Niner is all about—plays the right way.

“We love him, and I think all that stuff—we’re not going to get into the contract talks and all that, that takes care of itself, but we love him, and he’s here.”

“It’s extremely important,” Brock Purdy said of resolving Jennings’ issue, via Matt Barrows or The Athletic. “Obviously, we love J.J. and what he brings to our team and to myself as a quarterback. Obviously we’ve had so much success together. Anytime you see something like this going on, as a player it’s like, ‘Man, let’s figure out something so we can get back out of the field and continue to do what we have done.’”
