“Operation of the Century”: FBI Wipes Out 33 Members of the Weymouth – Kensington Drug Cartel, Back Clean After 10 Years of Fentanyl Obsession!
Philadelphia – A real “earthquake” has occurred in the criminal world when the FBI and federal prosecutors announced a historic indictment against 33 members of the Weymouth Street drug organization, ending nearly a decade of darkness in the largest open-air drug market in the United States – Kensington.
According to the official statement, 24 suspects were arrested in a large-scale operation on Friday, 8 are in custody, and 1 is still at large. Police executed 11 federal search warrants, seized dozens of guns and large amounts of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine.
FBI Director Kash Patel called it “a national model for reclaiming neighborhoods once occupied by criminals.” He emphasized, “The buildings belong to the residents – not the drug dealers.”
The case, described by U.S. Attorney David Metcalf as “the largest indictment of the century,” focused on a fentanyl and heroin trafficking conspiracy that spanned from 2016 to 2025 – a drug that has claimed hundreds of thousands of American lives over the past decade.
The three ringleaders of the organization were identified as Jose Antonio Morales Nieves (“Flaco”), Ramon Roman-Montanez (“Viejo”), and Nancy Rios-Valentin – who controlled the entire Weymouth complex, organized shifts, collected money, and used violence to suppress rivals.
According to the FBI, the group not only distributed drugs but also sowed violence, murdered, and intimidated witnesses, turning Kensington into “Philadelphia’s deadly hot spot.” The operation involved nine tactical teams and hundreds of police officers, spanning Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Delaware, and New Jersey.
The operation is part of the PSN Recon program – a US Justice Department initiative to target violent neighborhood-level criminal organizations. Officials say it is just the “beginning of a wave of community recapture across the country.”
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche asserted: “Those who poison their communities and rule with violence will face the full force of federal law.”
Kensington – a neighborhood once called “America’s scar” – now has a chance to be reborn. Residents stood and applauded as FBI vehicles drove away, symbolizing a new chapter for the city of Philadelphia – where justice has finally been won.
